Josefina Garcia - Director
Josefina Garcia began her dance studies at the age of 5. As a young dancer she participated in many competitions, social events, fundraisers, modeling events, television shows and videos. Josefine began teaching ballet, tap, jazz and flamenco in 1981.
She attended Kent State University in Ohio and Buffalo University, in Buffalo, NY where she studied under renowned teachers, such as Judy Ann Bassing, Bob Rizzo, Tom Ralabate, and Rachelle Rak just to name a few. In 1993 Josefina recieved her diploma in the Performing Arts from Dance Educators of America. Josefina graduated from Dance Master of America Teachers Training School in 1996.
Since 2002 Josefina has consecutively been awarded the outstanding Choreography Award at the various tri-state dance competitions. She has been recognized by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation of Hudson County, the city of Jersey City, the town of West New York and many others for her accomplishments and contributions in promoting Hispanic culture in Dance and the Arts.
Throughout the years Josefina's students have gained recognition throughout the Tri-State area winning numerous Titanium, Platinum, Gold, High Score and Special Awards. Many of Josefina's students have been finalists and 1st place winners at NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase. To date J&L Dance Center has over 1000 awards in the various Dance Competitions. J&L students have performed and are currently involved in movies, commercial, print ad, theater, theme park and overseas productions.
